Kristina Gow Clever, CG®, is the founder of Clever Genealogy in southern Alabama. She specializes in complex family-history research, DNA evidence analysis, and Norwegian immigrant research. Her work combines documentary research, genetic evidence, and careful correlation to resolve questions involving identity, biological relationships, and difficult ancestral origins.
Kristina's interest in genealogy began in 1986, when she interviewed her paternal grandparents and learned that each had lost a parent at a young age. That information led her to trace her paternal ancestors to Scotland and Norway. In 2005, she inherited more than thirty years of family research compiled by her mother, Sue Sisco, opening the door to a deeper exploration of her Southern roots.
She began working with genetic genealogy in 2006 through Y-DNA and mitochondrial DNA testing and expanded to autosomal DNA in 2012. Today she manages nearly fifty DNA kits for relatives and clients across the five major consumer testing companies and GEDmatch. This experience has given her practical insight into targeted testing, match clustering, cross-platform analysis, and the integration of DNA evidence with traditional records.

Kristina earned the Certified Genealogist® credential in 2025. She completed the Boston University Certificate in Genealogical Research and is a graduate of ProGen 42, GenProof 68, and Certification Practicum 2. She continues her education through advanced institutes, including the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research, and the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh. She also holds an associate degree in liberal arts.
Her articles have appeared in Minnesota Genealogist and The Quarterly Journal of the Illinois State Genealogical Society. In 2026, she presented the BCG-sponsored webinar “What’s in a Name? Finding Your Norwegian Ancestors” for Legacy Family Tree Webinars. She has also delivered programs for local genealogical societies on DNA and family history research. In March 2027, she will present live at RootsTech in Salt Lake City.
Kristina is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the National Genealogical Society. She serves on the Board for Certification of Genealogists’ webinar committee and the Association of Professional Genealogists’ Professional Development Committee. She previously served on the boards of the West Florida Genealogical Society and the Baldwin County Genealogical Society.
Through Clever Genealogy, Kristina offers consultations, comprehensive research projects, DNA analysis, and on-site record retrieval in southeast Alabama, southwest Georgia, and the Florida panhandle. She follows the ethics and standards of the Board for Certification of Genealogists and the Association of Professional Genealogists
